Andrew Sullivan, MA, LCMHCA
Andrew Sullivan is an Associate level Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the state of North Carolina (LCMHCA). He works with individuals 18 years and older of all genders and identities who are struggling with relational and interpersonal difficulties, figuring out who they are, anxiety and mood disorders, grief, and trauma. Andrew focuses on helping uncover new ways of relating to oneself, others, and the world that are helpful and meaningful.
Andrew works from a psychodynamic, relational, and existential orientation to therapy. He believes that learned patterns from the past may be unknowingly interfering with the way in which we live in the present. Through a genuine and authentic relationship in the therapeutic space, he thinks we can come to make more conscious and free decisions moving forward. As each person has a unique subjective experience of their concerns, the therapeutic journey will ultimately be a collaborative and likewise unique one. What is always present in Andrew’s work is a space of empathy, curiosity, and safety – a space where individuals feel able to be vulnerable themselves.
Andrew has a Master’s degree in Counseling from Wake Forest University and has experience in college counseling centers, working with a wide variety of clinical concerns. He is also a matriculated student at the Psychoanalytic Center of the Carolinas, where he is pursuing certification in psychoanalytic psychotherapy.
